Greater Flexibility
Without the constraints of insurance companies, care can be tailored entirely to the individual. There’s no need to justify treatment plans or session frequency to a third party, allowing providers and patients to decide together what’s best—whether that’s longer sessions, unconventional approaches, or extended support outside rigid diagnostic labels.

More Time for the Patient
Insurance-based models often require clinicians to see a high volume of patients to stay financially viable, which can limit appointment length and continuity. With self-pay, providers can offer fewer, longer, and more thoughtful appointments—leading to deeper, more meaningful work and stronger therapeutic relationships.

Enhanced Privacy and Discretion
When patients use insurance, a formal diagnosis is required for reimbursement, and session notes may be subject to review by the insurance company. With self-pay, there’s no need to submit records or diagnoses to any third party. This means your mental health care remains fully confidential—nothing is shared with insurance, and nothing becomes part of a permanent medical record unless you choose to share it. It’s a more private, secure, and stigma-free way to get the support you need.

We’re now in-network with Cigna to make your care more affordable and easy to access.

We’re also working on accepting insurance plans from Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Carefirst Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Sentara

If your insurance isn’t on this list, no worries! We offer private pay options, so you can get the care you need without hassle. Insurance does not have to dictate the care that I provide to you.

Pricing Out of Pocket - New patient intake appointment (60 mins) $300

Follow up appointment (30 mins) $150

Pricing can vary based on time/complexity

If you have questions about pricing for your specific situation please call us or email us at 703-844-0060 / billing@parkhavenpsych.com

Sessions typically range from $150-$300. The first appointment being the longest and the most expensive. We'll talk through what fits before anything is scheduled.

Many clients use HSA/FSA cards or submit for out-of-network reimbursement. We'll provide the paper (a superbill) to make that as simple as possible.

To keep your appointment, please make sure to pay the fee at least 24 hours before your scheduled visit. If payment isn’t received by then, your appointment will be canceled.

If you’re a new client, completing your intake paperwork before your appointment is required. You’ll receive the forms by email after booking. Please finish all forms at least 24 hours before your appointment to avoid delays.

The appointment fee will be charged for the missed appointment.

For example, if you miss a follow up appointment for 15 mins you will be charged $75 (the cost of the appointment).

The appointment must be rescheduled or cancelled 24 hours prior to the appointment. If cancelled or rescheduled after this time-frame you will be charged the appointment fee.

If you have an emergency the fee may be waived. This will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Yes, but that does not mean something will be prescribed. The psychiatric nurse practitioners (PMHNP) are board certified and licensed to evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe medications. The clinician will use their expert judgment to decide on evidenced-based medications and other recommendations for your treatment plan after your assessment.

You must physically be in the state of Virginia or Maryland. This will also depend on the provider that is treating you. You must be in a state that your psychiatric provider is licensed in at the time of the appointment.

We are currently accepting new patients and have availability within 1 week.

We know that waiting months for care can make things harder, so we keep spots open.

Telepsychiatry and telehealth are often used interchangeably, and in many cases, they refer to the same type of service. Specifically, telepsychiatry is a branch of telehealth focused on providing psychiatric care — including evaluations, medication management, and therapy — through secure video or phone appointments.

At Park Haven Psychiatry, all services are currently offered exclusively via telehealth, allowing you to receive high-quality mental health care from the comfort of your home, whether you're located in Virginia or Maryland. This model increases flexibility and accessibility while allowing your psychiatric provider to offer more personalized, responsive care without the limitations of a traditional office setting.

Yes, we do both! You can get an ADHD assessment online and, if appropriate, start treatment for ADHD online as well. If laws change regarding controlled substances — you will need to meet in person. This will be clearly communicated to you if necessary.

Yes, we are now offering in-person appointments for those that prefer that. The office for in-person appointments is in Front Royal, VA.
