At this time, we are a private pay practice and do not accept insurance. All services are offered on a self-pay basis. However, we are happy to provide a superbill upon request, which you may submit to your insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Choosing private pay allows for greater flexibility, confidentiality, and a more personalized approach to your care. It also allows for easier access to your provider.
Greater Flexibility
Without the constraints of insurance companies, care can be tailored entirely to the individual. There’s no need to justify treatment plans or session frequency to a third party, allowing providers and patients to decide together what’s best—whether that’s longer sessions, unconventional approaches, or extended support outside rigid diagnostic labels.
More Time for the Patient
Insurance-based models often require clinicians to see a high volume of patients to stay financially viable, which can limit appointment length and continuity. With self-pay, providers can offer fewer, longer, and more thoughtful appointments—leading to deeper, more meaningful work and stronger therapeutic relationships.
Enhanced Privacy and Discretion
When patients use insurance, a formal diagnosis is required for reimbursement, and session notes may be subject to review by the insurance company. With self-pay, there’s no need to submit records or diagnoses to any third party. This means your mental health care remains fully confidential—nothing is shared with insurance, and nothing becomes part of a permanent medical record unless you choose to share it. It’s a more private, secure, and stigma-free way to get the support you need.
The appointment fee must be paid in order to have your appointment. Please make payment before the appointment day (24 hours before or earlier). If payment has not been rendered your appointment will be canceled.
If you are a new client- it is required for the intake paperwork to be completed before the appointment can take place. Complete all forms 24 hours before the appointment or earlier. Forms will be emailed to you after you book your appointment.
The appointment fee will be charged for the missed appointment.
For example, if you miss a follow up appointment for 15 mins you will be charged $75 (the cost of the appointment).
The appointment must be rescheduled or cancelled 24 hours prior to the appointment. If cancelled or rescheduled after this time-frame you will be charged the appointment fee.
If you have an emergency the fee may be waived. This will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis
Yes, but that does not mean something will be prescribed. The psychiatric nurse practitioners (PMHNP) are board certified and licensed to evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe medications. The clinician will use their expert judgment to decide on evidenced-based medications and other recommendations for your treatment plan after your assessment.
You must physically be in the state of Virginia or Maryland. This will also depend on the provider that is treating you. You must be in a state that your psychiatric provider is licensed in at the time of the appointment.
We are currently accepting new patients and have availability within 1 week.
Telepsychiatry and telehealth are often used interchangeably, and in many cases, they refer to the same type of service. Specifically, telepsychiatry is a branch of telehealth focused on providing psychiatric care — including evaluations, medication management, and therapy — through secure video or phone appointments.
At Park Haven Psychiatry, all services are currently offered exclusively via telehealth, allowing you to receive high-quality mental health care from the comfort of your home, whether you're located in Virginia or Maryland. This model increases flexibility and accessibility while allowing your psychiatric provider to offer more personalized, responsive care without the limitations of a traditional office setting.
